Zimbabwe to Launch Self-service Border Control System
Zimbabwe Secretary for Information and Publicity Mr Ndabaningi Mangwana has hinted that Zimbabwe is close to launching an automated self-service border control system with e-gates.
Writing on his X (formerly Twitter) page, Mangwana said:
“The SmartGates will allow Zimbabwean ePassport holders and other ePassport holders from other countries to clear immigration controls with very little delay.”
The equipment you see in the pictures below is part of the technology.
Mangwana added:
“The ICT section of Chingaira Makoni Building houses the recently completed Department of Immigration Control Main Data Centre which provides e-services for the Online Border Management system. Once one clears Immigration, then the Smart Traffic Management System takes over to ensure you are behaving well and not doing what you are not supposed to do.”
