Chegutu – A man is being charged in the courts after he kills his friend over an apple. A single fruit led to the demise of an innocent man in after a fatal attack from his friend.
Chegutu Man Knifes Own Belly in Broad Daylight
23-year-old Emmmanuel Chingwaru, a resident of Umvomvo, Chegutu, has been brought before the Chegutu Magistrates’ Court to face charges of murder.
Allegations are that, on July 15, 2024, in Umvomvo, Chegutu, the accused assaulted Personal Mwasura multiple times on the head, nose, and mouth. The accused used his head as he attacked the now deceased. Following this brutal assault, he stabbed Mwasura with a knife behind the left ear.

The conflict reportedly stemmed from an argument over an apple that the accused had forcibly taken from Mwasura. This apple had originally been given to Mwasura by a relative.

The accused, who wanted the apple for himself, then snatched the apple from the deceased. This is when the altercation started, as Mwasura only wanted to enjoy his apple.
Mwasura succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to Chegutu District Hospital. The accused fled the scene but was apprehended two days later.

The accused, who had his first hearing in the Chegutu Magistrate’s court, has been remanded in custody until August 2, 2024, pending further legal proceedings.
