Portfolio Committe On Higher & Tertiary Education To Conduct An Inquiry On Universities Fees Hikes

The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technological Development led by the Chairperson Hon D Molekela has said that it is conducting an inquiry into the recent fees increase by tertiary institutions.

While some students have secured student loans, it is feared that a great number of students will this year defer their studies as they cannot afford the new fees.

The Progressive Teachers’ Union Secretary General, Raymond Majongwe, was invited to brief the committee on the impact of the increase.
