Air Zimbabwe is now accepting foreign currency payments from local residents willing to pay in hard currency.

This new development was announced via their Sales Bulletin yesterday.

This is an interesting development since a few weeks ago the government criminalized trading in foreign currency and said that the local currency is the only legal tender. The new regulations state that Its Now a Crime to Quote, Charge or Receive Payments in USD.

Air Zimbabwe will be charging foreigners exclusively in foreign currency. Part of the bulletin reads:

Therefore with immediate effect, the following are required to pay their tickets in foreign currency including domestic travel:

• Holder of foreign passports or foreign National Ids
• Embassies
• International Organisations
• Non-Governmental Organisations and, residents whose flights are originating from outside Zimbabwe.
