You Can Now Reverse Transactions Sent to the Wrong Number on EcoCash
The country's biggest mobile money agent Ecocash has now reportedly added transaction reversal to its USSD platform.
If this is true then it would come in handy if you mistakenly send money to the wrong number.
How to reverse transaction sent to the wrong number on EcoCash
Dial *150# and select the Self-help/Reversal option to initiate the reversal of the transaction.
(We tried to do this but it seems the third option is for Cash-out and not the reversal they are talking about. We will keep trying and update as soon as we have more details)Â
Is there no Risk of Fraudulent Activities being Done Through the EcoCash Reversal Platform?
The natural question to follow up would be, ‘What if someone sends money for goods or services and then decides to reverse later?'.
Well, subscribers need not worry about getting defrauded as the transaction reversal will require both parties to approve. The sending party will need to initiate the transaction and the receiving party will then need to confirm the reversal.
So what will happen if the recipient chooses not to approve the reversal?
In such a case the sender will then to visit the Econet shop and take it up manually. There is an option to call Econet but you will be lucky if they pick up the call.
Transaction reversal won't work for payments made to merchants though.
