Coronavirus Updates: MTN Zambia Introduces Zero-rated Money Transfers
MTN Zambia has zero-rated money transfers in response to the Covid-19 outbreak after the country confirmed two cases.
Fees are waived for transfers up to ZMK 150, and the operator doubled the mobile money transaction limits as part of efforts to limit the exchange of notes and increase digital payments.
On Wednesday, Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya confirmed that Zambia had recorded two cases of coronavirus.
The Bank of Zambia has increased the e-wallet holding and transaction limits effective 19 March. Transactions for small and medium enterprises were increased to ZMK 1 million from ZMK 250,000.
Speaking to the publication MTN said there was no limit amount for agents and corporates who can transact from a minimum of ZMK 2 million.
