Vendor Arrested For Impersonating A Soldier

Mike Nyahungwe, a Harare based vendor arrested for impersonating a soldier at a roadblock in Guruve.
Nyahungwe appeared before a Guruve magistrates courts on Wednesday pleading guilty to the charge of impersonating a soldier and was remanded in custody to today for sentencing.
Prosecutor Spiwe Makarichi alleged that on June 2 Nyahungwe was intercepted at a police roadblock in Guruve where he was putting on a 1-2 infantry battalion t-shirt.
He drew the attention of soldiers who were part of the roadblock who enquired if he was a soldier.
The suspect lied to the soldiers that he was indeed a soldier but failed to give his force number.
Upon being interrogated he revealed that he was a vendor in Harare and had been offered the t-shirt by his brother who is a soldier.
