“Customer Perception That Power Is Cheaper At The Beginning Of The Month Is Not Correct” Says ZESA

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has warned its customers on buying electricity tokens at the beginning of the month.
ZESA has advised its customers that electricity tokens can be bought on any day of the month.
This follows reports that people were complaining over failure to buy the tokens on Wednesday, July 1, with some banks reported to be failing to process the purchases online while the EcoCash platform was also experiencing some glitches. In a statement, ZETDC said:
The customer perception that power is cheaper at the beginning of the month is not correct and was leading to very high transaction volumes at the beginning of each month, resulting in the significant slowing down of the vending system.
Some customers would have exhausted the low-cost band of ZETDC units (200kWh), hence they attempt to purchase the electricity at the earliest possible time, which happens to be the first day of the month.
