Video : How To Set Up The Facebook Avatar
Facebook Avatar challenge has gone viral on the social network.
Here is what you need to know:
It is a new feature from the social media giant that allows users to create a cartoon-like version of yourself.
This is similar to Snapchat's Bitmoji and Apple's Memoji feature.
Thanks to Facebook, you’ll now have even more ways to express yourself online. According to Facebook, you can use your personalised avatar “to share a range of emotions and expressions via a digital persona”.
This digital persona will be unique to you and can be used in Facebook comments, Messenger and Stories. It will also roll out to “text posts with backgrounds” soon, Facebook promised.
“With so many emotions and expressions to choose from, avatars let you share your authentic reactions and feelings with family and friends across the app”.
HOW TO CREATE YOUR FACEBOOK AVATAR
For now, creating a Facebook Avatar will only be possible if you have the app installed. (You won't be able to create in on desktop for now).
It’s really easy to set up. Anyone who has created a Bitmoji or Memoji in the past will sail through the customisation options.
- Login or set up a Facebook account.
- Go to the Facebook or Messenger comment composer.
- From there, click on the “smiley” button,
- Then select the sticker tab.
- Now click on “Create Your Avatar”.
CUSTOMISING YOUR FACEBOOK AVATAR
Avatars can be customised to represent you, and customisation options include hairstyle, outfit, and complexion. Thanks to the lasting changes brought about by the pandemic, COVID-19 support stickers will be available too.
There are also some pieces of headwear to choose from like a beret, hijab, or baseball hat. You can even throw on a headband with cat ears if that's more your style.
From there, you can access tons of different versions under the sticker icon via the comment box on Facebook or the text box on Messenger. All you have to do is click on whichever one matches your mood at that moment and send it.
And don't worry, if you've suddenly decided to give yourself a full-blown makeover in quarantine, you have the ability to edit your Facebook avatar any time you'd like.
