WhatsApp Adds functions to lock and conceal chats and communications that the users wish to keep private.
‘We feel this functionality will be useful for those who occasionally share their phones.’
Thanks to a new feature, WhatsApp users will soon be able to lock and conceal chats.
Conversation lock will relocate a conversation thread from the app’s usual display inbox to a separate folder that can only be accessed via a password or biometric, such as facial identification or fingerprint recognition.
Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, stated Chat Lock will secure “your most intimate conversations” and conceal alerts from them, calling it “another layer of security.”
“We believe this feature will be great for people who occasionally share their phones with family members, or in situations where someone else is holding your phone at the exact moment an extra-special chat arrives.
Users can lock a chat by tapping the name of a one-to-one or group and selecting the lock option. To reveal the chats, one must slowly pull down on their inbox and enter a password or biometric.
As part of its privacy package, Meta allows WhatsApp users to encrypt their backups, block the ability to screenshot and make their messages disappear automatically.
