Service Stations Caught Selling Contaminated Fuel
Thuli in their press release acknowledged their blunder which they pinned on heavy rains.
In the press release Thuli Petroleum said:
“This statement is issued in the interest of the motoring public and our valued customers and stakeholders in response to a ZiMetro publication of the 19th of January 2024 article titled ‘THULI Petroleum selling contaminated fuel!'.
“The article, purportedly based on a court case involving Thuli Petroleum, makes several sweeping statements without reference to the facts, omits essential facts, and outrightly twists facts to create the impression that Thuli Petroleum deliberately and intentionally sold contaminated fuel.
“A lot of effort appears to have gone into making this deliberately misleading and slanderous article without regard for the truth.”
Thuli Petroleum Addresses Fuel Contamination Allegations
Thuli Petroleum acknowledged the blunder but failed to outline how they failed to inspect the site and their poor management to inspect the tanks in question following a night of heavy rains.
ZiMetro News after visiting the ‘Kambuzuma Site’ also noted and can confirm that the Kambuzuma site is located in a wetland area which also raises many unanswered questions.
The press statement issued by Thuli Petroleum also raises questions on how the company neglected their duties and refueled clients vehicles without due diligent of inspecting the underground tanks.
Below are some of the Common Causes Of Underground Storage Tank Leaks:
- Corrosion
- Faulty installation
- Poor maintenance
- Aging infrastructure and external forces
- Material incompatibility
- Excessive pressure
- Poor backfill conditions
The Thuli Petroleum blunder should be investigated as the location of their site is situated near houses and this is a danger to both environment and humans.
