The bus was carrying 65 Anglican pilgrims. Passengers noticed smoke puffing out from the engine and told the driver.
Tragically, eight people were caught in a fire that started when the driver checked the engine, and ten others got hurt. The driver stopped to investigate, but when he opened the engine, a fireball burst out and took over the bus.

Quick thinking led to 57 people escaping through the door and emergency windows, although ten got some injuries. Sadly, eight couldn't make it out and will be identified later as they were burnt beyond recognition.
At one of the funerals, Zanu PF member Isau Mupfumi and Transport Minister Mhona showed up but ended up making things awkward by getting mourners to chant political stuff. Not cool.
To prevent such tragic accidents, here are a few steps that can be taken:
- Regular maintenance of vehicles to ensure they're in top condition.
- Training for drivers on safety protocols and emergency response.
- Strict adherence to road safety rules by all road users.
- Installation of fire extinguishers and emergency exits in buses.
- Routine safety checks before long journeys.
