Karoi Man Steals Two Packs of Sweets
Praise Kangande appeared before the Karoi Magistrate Court for stealing two packs of sweets valued at US$7 from Harare Inn Wholesale on June 26.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Kangande entered the shop around 6 pm, pretending to shop but was caught on CCTV putting the sweets into his bag.
Alerted by the security team, Kangande was searched upon exiting the store, and the stolen sweets were discovered. He was immediately arrested.
Kangande was sentenced to four months in prison. However, two months of the sentence were suspended for five years, and the remaining two months were suspended on the condition that he perform 70 hours of community service.

Meanwhile, the state has dropped charges against rapper and TV presenter Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye, including allegations of rape, attempted murder, and assault.
In a letter dated June 20 to Maarohanye’s lawyers, acting deputy director of public prosecution TJ Mbodi cited insufficient prospects for a successful prosecution based on a thorough review of the police docket and prosecutors’ report, along with the defense’s representations.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwana confirmed the decision, stating, “After careful consideration of the case docket, prosecutor’s report, and representations made to the director of public prosecution’s office, it was determined that there are no reasonable prospects of successful prosecution. Therefore, the charges against Molemo Maarohanye have been withdrawn.”
