In a shocking incident at Chikwanda High School in Gutu, a teacher has been sentenced to three years in jail for engaging in sexual activity with a Form 2 pupil, who is just 15 years old.
Teacher Used to Peep Under Female Learners' Skirts
The girl, who had gone missing, was discovered hiding under her teacher's bed during a dramatic search. Reports suggest that after fleeing her home, she specifically sought refuge at Kinston Madzimure's house. Tragically, instead of finding safety, she became a victim of exploitation.
Gutu magistrate Edwin Marecha delivered the verdict on Saturday, holding Madzimure accountable for his actions. While the teacher received a three-year sentence, one year was suspended on the condition that he refrains from committing a similar offense.
The State's investigation revealed that in July, Madzimure, a resident of Ruputsa Village under Chief Makore in Gutu, invited the girl to his home at the school. He expressed romantic interest, and she tragically agreed.

When a misunderstanding with her grandmother led her to run away, she sought solace with the accused.
From August 2 onward, the girl endured repeated instances of sexual intercourse with Madzimure. Fortunately, a police report filed on August 6 led to his arrest. The complainant underwent a medical examination at Gutu Rural Hospital, revealing the extent of the abuse.
Disturbingly, the student was also involved with a young boy residing in Hunduza. On July 24, a confrontation erupted at Hunduza Business Centre when the boy confronted the teacher about his relationship with the girl. Community members joined in, expressing their outrage.
