Some of his followers might have thought that the popular Chegutu prophet, Timothy Michael, was using real-life visual aids during his sermon, as is common among modern-day clergy. However, his arrest was not staged; it was very real.
When contacted by the media, Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera could not confirm the arrest, stating he had not yet received the report.

Nevertheless, senior church member Vengai Jowo confirmed the arrest to the publication. “Yes, he has been arrested,” said Vengai, who declined to provide further details.
Sources speaking to the media on condition of anonymity revealed that Prophet Michael had allegedly demanded a kiss from the female congregant. They praised her for standing up for her rights by reporting the incident to the police.
The sources also suggested that this was not an isolated case, implying that the prophet had a history of abusing his female congregants.
“This is the only female member who stood up to defend her rights. When he demanded a kiss, she shouted at him,” explained one source.
