Liverpool in Control as Injury-hit Arsenal Slip

Liverpool are confidently in charge and do seem like a team that will slip. Although Salah was firing blanks, his side can now do without him. City have regained their energy.

Brentford 0-2 Liverpool

Brentford looked like they had held the log leaders to a goalless draw but the introduction of substitute Darwin Nunez turned the tide. Nunez fired a quick double in extra time.

Arsenal 2-2 Aston Villa

Arsenal went ahead through Gabriel Martinelli before Kai Harvetz nodded home a second goal to seal Trossard's brace of assists. However, problems in the right back position came back to haunt Arteta's side as Villa capitalised on makeshift full-back Thomas Partey to make a fight back.

Nottingham Forest 3-2 Southampton

Forest continued with their resurgence earning another three points to cement their position in the top four.

Manchester United 1-3 Brighton

The Red Devil's were way inferior to a well drilled Brighton side falling behind in the 6th minute. A Bruno Fernandes equaliser was not enough to stop Kaoru Mitoma's side from collecting three points at Old Trafford.

Ipswich 0-6 Manchester City

Phil Foden is slowly getting back to last season's performance. He netted a brace as Man City dismissed hapless Ipswich who sit in the relegation zone.

Everton 3-2 Tottenham Hotspur

The inconsistent Spurs were at it again, losing to Everton who recently re-hired David Moyes. Potecuglu's team attempted a comeback but the goals were not enough.

Newcastle 1-4 Bournemouth

Andoni Iraola's side Bournemouth continued with their giant-killing acts silencing Newcastle who have had a good run. Newcastle's Isak who had consistently scored in 8 consecutive games had a stinker of a game.

Leicester 0-2 Fulham

Van Nistelrooy's side continue to wobble losing at home to Fulham.

West Ham 0-2 Crystal Palace

West Ham's woes continue despite a change in the coaching department.

As it stands, Liverpool lead with 50 points, while Arsenal and Nottingham Forest sit on 44 points. Manchester City now occupy 4th place ahead of Newcastle who are also on 38 points. Manchester United languishing in 13th position.

Chelsea host Wolves on Monday night.

Elsewhere in Europe, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid failed secure maximum points while Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe scored a hattrick.
