The Warriors vice-captain joined Wolves from French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims in a record-breaking transfer.

Munetsi’s transfer fee surpasses all previous records set by Zimbabwean footballers.

His move eclipses Tino Kadewere’s €15 million transfer to Lyon in 2020 and Marvelous Nakamba’s €12 million switch to Aston Villa from Club Brugge.

The 27-year-old underwent his medical in Paris on Monday before finalising the move.

He joins Wolves alongside his former Reims teammate Emmanuel Agbadou.

Munetsi emerged as Wolves’ top priority on deadline day as the club looked to reinforce their midfield following a challenging EPL season.

His arrival fills the gap left by Gabon international Mario Lemina, who is set to join Turkish giants Galatasaray for €2.5 million.

The Zimbabwean star’s value has skyrocketed in recent years, with Transfermarkt estimating his worth at just €5 million two years ago.

At Wolves, Marshall Munetsi joins fellow Zimbabwean international Tawanda Chirewa and Leon Chiwome who has Zimbabwean heritage.

Wolves recently climbed out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, and Munetsi’s addition is expected to further strengthen the squad.

Munetsi has big shoes to fill, stepping in to replace Mario Lemina, who is set to move to Turkish giants Galatasaray for €2.5 million.

Lemina started the season as Wolves’ captain and was named Supporters’ Player of the Season for 2023/24.
