Council Demilishes Vending Stalls In Mbare & Machipisa
The MDC leader Nelson Chamisa’s spokesperson Dr Nkululeko Sibanda has posted the following letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works that directed all councils to take advantage of the lockdown and demolish vending stalls.
Sibanda said the order was a directive from the government.
This move had no intention of destroying livelihoods of infomal traders according to The Council but rather renovate and clean up for a better version when work resume after lock-down.
“renovate Small and Medium Enterprise and informal traders’ workspaces so that these area will be more conducive to operate from when business reopens”.said the letter
We hope they stay in line with the renovating to deliver a conducive business arena

At the nineth Cabinet meeting it was resolved that Local Authorities should take advantage of the national lockdown to clean up and renovate Small and Medium Enterprise and informal traders’ workspaces so that these area will be more conducive to operate from when business reopens.
Please make every effort to comply with this resolution. To this end, workers in this area would be classified as ‘essential’ in terms of Ocular Minute 2 of 2020 and they should be provided with the necessary protective clothing and equipment whilst they undertake her duties.
