Civil Servants Reject USD 75 Covid-19 Allowance Offered By Government
Civil servants have rejected the USD75 COVID-19 allowance being offered by the government threatening to go ahead with the scheduled 22 June protest.
Yesterday the Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube announced the government will pay USD 75 to every civil servant as Covid-19 allowance.
The news has not been received well especially when the workers realized they will not be able to withdraw cash.
Amalgamated Rural Teachers Association made a statement a few hours after the announcement,
“Our members have rejected this offer. We still demand our 2017 salaries, USD 520. We are consulting other Teacher Unions for possible joint actions.
The 22 June protest will go ahead as scheduled.”
They were followed by the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) who also said their members rejected the offer by the government.
