2 Women Shot In Hwange As ZRP Officers Raid Informal Coal Traders
2 Women were left hospitalised, battling for their lives after they were hit by stray bullets shot by ZRP officers who were raiding illegal coal traders in Hwange, the Chronicle reports.
According to the publication, the 2 women who happen to be neighbours were shot outside their homes in A section in Madumabisa Village where they sat chatting.
An eye witness who witnessed the incident said:
Two women were shot and injured by officers from the Support Unit stationed at Number 2 showgrounds who opened fire maybe to scare illegal coke traders during a raid.
One of the women who were at the house at A section, Zulani Mudenda had her stomach ripped open while her neighbour was hit on the breast
When contracted for comment ZRP National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they were still investigating the incident:
We are still investigating the unfortunate incident and will have more details tomorrow.
