Mai Sorobhi Children Stranded with Bill Payments

Children of the late veteran actress Rhoda Mtembe popularly known as Mai Sorobhi who died on 12 September at a local hospital are appealing to the public for financial assistance to pay the outstanding bills at the hospital and other funeral-related expenses.

Mai Sorobhi’s daughter Ms Martha Mtembe told the Herald Arts that they are seeking for money to pay out the debt at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, formerly known as Harare Central Hospital.

In a statement she said “Right now, I am at Harare Central Hospital where we are facilitating paperwork for her burial but we are stranded. We have been told to pay the hospital bill amounting to RTGS $35 000,” she said.

She said they were also seeking assistance as they are in need of food and transport to carry mourners to the cemetery.

She said they needed assistance for them to meet the funeral costs, as they do not have enough resources. In a statement she said “There is insufficient food right now to cater for the mourners and we do not have money to hire transport to ferry people to the cemetery”.
