According to the statement, the unfortunate incident took place at Kasi Kasi Bar in Tafara around 12:10 AM, amidst a vibrant New Year’s Eve celebration attended by a whopping 2000 people.
Initial reports suggest that the road leading to Kamunhu Shopping Centre and Tafara suburb was blocked due to a large crowd and haphazardly parked vehicles.
The Police who were summoned to the scene faced challenges in controlling the situation due to poor lighting.
At approximately 3:00 AM, an informant alerted them about a crowd and the presence of three women near Kasi Kasi Bar, situated along the main road connecting Mabvuku and Tafara.

Emergency services swiftly rushed the three women to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, but tragically, two of them were pronounced dead.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is actively conducting a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
They have urged the public and media to refrain from drawing premature conclusions until the investigations are completed.
While awaiting a comprehensive post-mortem report to determine the cause of death, the police strongly condemn the unruly behaviour exhibited by motorists and the general public during the New Year’s Day festivities in Mabvuku.
The police hinted at the possibility that the women’s deaths may have resulted from a stampede, prompting a call for liquor outlets to implement measures ensuring ample parking space for patrons during significant events to avert chaos and stampedes.
