A tragic accident occurred at the Mbudzi Interchange construction site in Harare, resulting in the death of one individual.
The incident was caused by a mechanical fault on one of the cranes, according to preliminary reports given to the media from the site.

Authorities have expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, acknowledging the immense loss.
Engineers on-site have assured the public that the structural integrity of the bridge remains largely unaffected, with only minimal damage reported in the affected section.
They have confirmed that the rest of the construction site remains stable and safe.

According to Passenger Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) president Tafadzwa Goliati, several factors contribute to corruption, including low salaries and benefits, lack of accountability, and poor training and resources. Goliati said:
“The root causes of corruption within law enforcement agencies are complex and multifaceted.
“Some possible factors contributing to corruption include low salaries and benefits, lack of inadequate oversight, poor internal controls, and insufficient disciplinary measures.”
Goliati emphasized that addressing corruption in Harare requires a comprehensive approach, including reforming and strengthening institutional frameworks, improving salaries and working conditions, and promoting transparency and accountability.
“We’re forced to take mushikashika because the government hasn’t provided us with a reliable and affordable transport system. It’s like they’re leaving us with no choice but to risk our lives,” said Mai Matombo, a commuter from Harare.
