The students were returning from a rugby tournament at St George’s College in Harare when the accident occurred, just 20 kilometres from their school.
Falcon College has identified the deceased student as Aidan O’Donovan, an upper-sixth student from Tredgold House. The announcement was made in a heartfelt letter to parents and guardians by Mr Phillip Whaley, Chairman of the Board of Governors.
It is with deepest sadness that I write to advise you of the passing of Aidan O’Donovan. There are no adequate words at a time like this, and we are all deeply affected.
Three students were rushed to Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo. Among them, Bradley Wentzel sustained a broken arm and is currently being treated with his parents by his side. Several other students and staff suffered minor cuts and injuries and are also receiving treatment at the hospital.
