HPA to Close Unlicensed Skin Treatment Facilities

The Health Professions Authority Zimbabwe (HPA) has expressed deep concern regarding beauty and wellness facilities that offer beauty enhancements, services, and skin treatments beyond the scope of their authorized operations. Specifically, these facilities are administering intravenous drips and injectables, procedures that should only be performed by qualified medical professionals.

According to section 126 of the Health Professions Act (Chapter 27:19), non-medical personnel are strictly prohibited from engaging in acts related to registered professions. The unauthorized administration of intravenous treatments poses a significant risk to public health.

In the interest of public safety, the HPA strongly advises individuals to seek medical advice and treatment exclusively from registered health professionals and recognized institutions. You can identify legitimate practitioners by verifying their possession of a valid practicing certificate issued by the relevant Council and an HPA license.

Currently, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, the HPA is taking decisive action to close down facilities where non-medical personnel are performing procedures reserved for registered medical professionals. Those responsible for such unauthorized practices will face legal consequences.
