A catastrophic fire ravaged the Cotton Country Inn, a popular restaurant and nightclub in Kadoma, on Saturday night, destroying property worth several thousands of dollars.
The blaze, which is believed to have originated in the kitchen around 11 PM, has left the venue in ruins.
According to initial reports, the fire is suspected to have been caused by cooking oil in a fryer. The inferno swiftly engulfed the kitchen, diner, and adjoining passage, reducing the once-thriving establishment to ashes.
The Cotton Country Inn had recently changed management; the previous owner, Mr. Masuku, had struggled to maintain the venue’s popularity.
However, the new management team had been making significant strides to restore the inn’s reputation and drawback patrons. Unfortunately, their efforts were cut short by this devastating incident.

The fire at Cotton Country Inn comes just a year after a similar tragedy struck a nearby bar, Hot Plate.
That establishment was also consumed by fire, reportedly originating from the kitchen. Since then, Hot Plate has remained in ruins, with no plans for rebuilding or reopening in sight.
The repeated incidents of fire in the area raise concerns about safety practices and fire prevention measures in local businesses.
As investigations into the Cotton Country Inn fire continue, the community is left grappling with the loss of another cherished venue.
