The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a tragic road traffic accident that occurred on September 5, 2024, at the 217 km peg along the Harare-Masvingo road at approximately 6:00 AM, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to two others.
The accident involved a UD truck carrying three passengers, which reportedly veered into the lane of an oncoming Freightliner truck, also occupied by three passengers, leading to a catastrophic head-on collision.
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, where they found the aftermath of the crash devastating, with significant damage to both vehicles.
The fatalities included two passengers from the UD truck and one from the Freightliner, all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
