Diary of a single mother 3
The week flew by. James called. We arranged to meet after work.
‘hey baby.’ He said coming to embrace me. I felt his lips brushing sweetly on my neck.
‘I so missed you. Missed you like crazy.’ He said.
‘so did I’
‘come, lets go’ he said opening the car door.
He could be quite a gentleman when he felt like it. I could also tell he was in a good mood.
Maybe his business trip had been fruitful.
I got into the car and he drove to his flat. When I got in, I noticed that he had not yet unpacked. He went to his bedroom, while I went to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
Somehow my throat was dry. I was wondering how I was going to break it to him. He entered the lounge with a large box.
‘what is that?’ I asked.
‘I got you a little something. Here open it.’
I took the box and opened it and saw a laptop with its carrying bag.
I was speechless. I threw my arms around his neck.
‘oh baby. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.’
‘thought you needed one, miss journalist.’
Oh and this was just not a good day to tell him. I just didn’t want to spoil the happiness. I decided it could wait- perhaps tomorrow.
When I got home Theodora and Thalia were waiting for me. They just took me straight to our room.
‘how did it go?’ Theo asked.
‘Well, i… i..’ I stammered.
Oh, you didn’t tell him, did you?’ Thalia queried.
‘ I just couldn’t, look..’
I said bringing their attention to the bag that neither of them had noticed.
‘Wow,’ they were just as surprised.
‘Makes sense.’ Theo remarked.
‘Huh,’ I asked.
‘Your not telling him.’ Theo said smiling.
‘But you have to, the sooner the better.’ Thalia advised.
‘Okay, okay. Tomorrow.’ I said. ‘hopefully’ I whispered closing my face with the pillow.
