MDC Mp for Harare West Constituency Joanna Mamombe has been chosen as one of the 100 Most Influential Young Africans for 2019.
People on the list are chosen in recognition of their works which have impacted lives across the continent. The impressive list also includes such big names like soccer stars Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah (both Liverpool), Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal).
The list also includes artists like Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, Davido (all Nigeria) and Shatta Wale (Ghana).
The list is populated by Africa Youth Awards and they have been running for four years now.
At 25, Joanah became Zimbabwe’s youngest legislator representing the Harare West Constituency.
She became active in public and political affairs at the Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), where she joined student politics and subsequently became the first female secretary-general at the university and also later served as national gender secretary for Zimbabwe’s national student's body, Zinasu. She is a graduate of the University of Chinhoyi where she completed a BSc in Biotechnology.
