The Government has released civil servants pay dates for the remaining months with all sectors expected to receive their salaries before the Christmas holidays but omitting bonus dates.

In a circular, Finance and Economic Development Permanent Secretary, Mr George Guvamatanga, advised the pay dates for public servants and pensioners for the remaining months of October to December but omitted 2019 bonus pay dates citing the challenge of revenue inflows.

Since the beginning of this year, civil servants have been pushing for a pay rise which led the government to increase civil servants salaries raised by 76 per cent, a development that saw the lowest paid worker earning $1 023 up from $582.

Unfortunately, the reality on the ground is proving otherwise and the latest offer is in a deficit of health care, education, transport, food and other basic needs. The workers are still expecting a salary increment in line with the current cost of living.

The Apex Council has requested an urgent National Joint Negotiating Council meeting set for today to map a way forward on salaries that correspond with the continuously cost of living- demanding salaries indexed to the interbank rate.
