Breaking: RBZ has Approved EcoCash Tariff Increase
EcoCash charges are set to go up on Monday as RBZ has reportedly approved the new increased tariffs.Â
The new transaction fees module has not been released yet and we will update you as soon as we get it. This latest increase is going to hit the majority of Zimbabweans since EcoCash handles the bulk of mobile money transactions in Zimbabwe.
The prevailing cash crisis has seen a lot of people being left with no option but to rely heavily on electronic money, the bulk of it being EcoCash.
It is not yet clear if this increase will also be coupled with a transaction limit increase.
This tariff increase can be another opportunity for NetOne to increase its market share in the mobile money market through One Money. In November, OneMoney introduced Zero-rated transactions to get more customers and people are likely to flock to it to avoid the increased EcoCash tariffs.
This is a developing story and we will keep you updated.
