Schools Refusing To Register Candidates For The June 2020 Exams
It has come to our attention that some schools are refusing to register candidates for the Zimsec June 2020 Examination Siting.
The closing date for payments and submission of entries for June 2020 examinations is 28 February 2020.
Students are being turned away and they are being told to come back at a later date. Zimtrending visited a school in Harare (name not reviewed for confidentiality) to verify and we confirmed this situation.
This development seems to be caused by confusion on the examination fees. Initially, there was an announcement that exam fees had been increased from $15 to $190 ZWL. This was followed by a massive public outcry and the junior parliament rejected the new exam fees.Â
The Minister of Primary & Secondary issued a press statement cancelling these new fees (see below).
It seems schools are now in limbo as to how to handle the situation.
However, despite the statement by The minister on the news fees to be announced after further consultations, candidates are supposed to continue to pay the old fees approved in 2015.
New fees would be announced after further consultations, but candidates must continue paying the old fees approved in 2015 (and) deadlines for examination fees payment remain the same said Minister Mathema
This is a developing story more details to follow.
