MDC Alliance Demands The Arrest Of Cabinet Ministers Over ‘Covidgate’
The MDC Alliance has called for the arrest of cabinet ministers allegedly involved in corrupt COVID-19 related deals.
MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere on Thursday told journalists in Harare that Health and Child Care Minister Obadiah Moyo, Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube, Permanent Secretary in the Finance Ministry George Guvamatanga, and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son, Collins should be investigated urgently. Said Mahere:
In the past few weeks, Covidgate has implicated senior government officials including those at the very, very top yet all we see are theatrics, weak investigations and the arrest of the smallest, weakest, least powerful fish.
Corruption is killing us. Why is Obadiah Moyo, George Guvamatanga, Mthuli Ncube and Collins Mnangagwa walking free?
… We want decisive and tangible action. We demand a public, televised inquiry into the Covidgate scandal
We are sick and tired of corruption being swept under the carpet and the perpetrators of corruption being exonerated behind closed doors to the detriment of the citizens.
Mahere’s comments follow the arrest of Delish Nguwaya, Zimbabwe country representative for Drax Consult SAGL and three top National Pharmaceutical Company (NatPharm) officials over COVID-19 surgical equipment supply deals worth millions of USD dollars.
