Govt Suspends The Wearing Of Masks In Public Places With Immediate Effect
The government of Zimbabwe has announced that fully vaccinated citizens are no longer required to wear facemasks in public outdoor spaces with immediate effect.
The announcement was made by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvanga while addressing journalists during the post-cabinet media briefing.
This comes after a sharp drop in covid cases in Zimbabwe last week.
Only fully vaccinated citizens who have received three jabs will be exempt from wearing facemasks and they will have to carry their vaccination cards as evidence.
However, facemasks will remain mandatory in indoor public areas like indoor concerts, clubs and public transport.
Since then a number of people have been arrested for not wearing masks in public.
Neighbours South Africa scrapped the wearing of facemasks in June.
