Chamisa Attends Lesotho Inauguration
The opposition Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC)’s “Change Champion in Chief” Nelson Chamisa is in, Maseru, Lesotho where he is attending the inauguration of the country’s new Prime Minister Sam Matekane.
Chamisa said he was honoured to be invited to the event, describing the Matekane’s takeover of the reigns in the mountainous kingdom as a smooth democratic transition. He tweeted:
“IN LESOTHO… ATTENDING THE INAUGURATION at SETSOTSO stadium, MASERU. So honoured to be invited to witness yet another smooth democratic transition in Africa. Africa is rising. The future is exciting. Zimbabwe get ready!”
Matekane (64) launched the Revolution for Prosperity (RFP) on 22 March 2022 and defeated the All Basotho Convention (ABC) in elections held on 07 October 2022. Matekane’s RFP has formed a coalition government with the Alliance of Democrats and the Movement for Economic Change after it didn’t get an outright majority in the recent polls.
The RFP won 56 out of 120 seats in parliament but needed the support of other parties to reach the 60 plus-one seats required to form a government.
