The bomb was allegedly aimed at Brighton Mazhindu's bedroom but missed and exploded in the carport.

There is a report that a suspected bomb device was thrown at the home of CCC MP candidate for St Mary's Brighton Mazhindu last night.
The ZRP attended the scene and the Bomb Disposal & Forensics Units are currently investigating the incident.
Those who were present report that the object was targeted at the main bedroom but narrowly missed & exploded in the carport.

This is the latest in the escalation of violence and intimidation against the main opposition party CCC led by the youthful Nelson Chamisa as Zimbabwe trudges towards the 23 August 2023 elections in a tense political environment.
The CCC candidate Brighton Mazhindu is also being challenged by a CCC rebel who was recently expelled from the party, Freddy Masarirevhu.
