No Court Joy for CCC, Kasukuwere
Kasukuwere’s disqualification upheld, CCC Bulawayo candidates disqualified, CCC frauds get reprieve
Supreme Court has thrown out Saviour Kasukuwere's appeal against disqualification from running for president.
We carefully considered the evidence and oral submissions by both counsels.
Court is of view the appeal lacks merit. Appeal be and is hereby dismissed.
This judgment against Kasukuwere comes less than 24hrs after another shocking judgment by a Justice Bongani Ndlovu who ruled that CCC's Bulawayo MP candidates were late to submit their papers.
As the political shock waves caused by the disqualification of 12 opposition CCC parliamentary candidates for Bulawayo by the High Court continue, party leader Nelson Chamisa warns that:
Mnangagwa is just about to plunge Zimbabwe into an unprecedented electoral and national crisis.
The astonishing court ruling by Justice Bongani Ndlovu could now give the ruling Zanu PF control of Bulawayo for the first time since the turn of the millennium.
🟡Even @ZECzim confirmed that our nomination papers were submitted on time. ZANU PF’s unconstitutional removal of 12 CCC MP candidates from the ballot has nothing to do with the law & everything to do with a repeat victimisation of the citizens of Bulawayo. They’re unelectable! pic.twitter.com/udn63qBPl2

The city has been an opposition stronghold. Chamisa adds:
Never target a tribe or victimize a region twice!
In handing down another judgment, the courts dismissed the case in which the CCC were suing the allegedly fraudulent 17 double victims who include among them Freddy Masarirevhu.
1/2 s46(9) of the Electoral Act provides that the nomination officer must where political parties are involved, scrutinize nomination forms submitted by candidates who claim to be sponsored by such parties.
