Mufambi, a member of the Johanne Marange apostolic sect, reportedly accused his 22-year-old wife, Mutero, of failing to adhere to the church’s doctrine, which mandates that women keep their heads completely bald.
Mufambi’s frustration with Mutero’s hairstyle choice escalated into a heated argument. In a desperate attempt to assert the church’s teachings, he ordered Mutero to accompany him to a church service, but she staunchly refused.
What followed was a harrowing ordeal, as Mufambi allegedly resorted to physical violence. He began to savagely assault his wife until she collapsed and lost consciousness.
In a chilling turn of events, Mufambi dragged his unconscious wife into a kitchen hut. Agnes Mufambi, the suspect’s mother, who was an eyewitness to this horrifying incident, urgently summoned her daughter, Tabeth, to intervene.

Tabeth courageously stepped in and managed to restrain her brother from inflicting further harm on Mutero. Understanding the dire need for medical assistance, Obvious, the brother of the accused, swiftly arranged for transportation.
With the help of Matthew Kagwande from Chingwaru Village, they rushed the gravely injured Mutero to the Guruve hospital.
Tragically, the hospital staff’s efforts to save Mutero’s life proved in vain, as she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The young woman had sustained severe injuries, evident by the numerous bruises covering her body and a swollen head.
