New ZESA Tariffs Effective 1st March
New ZERA-approved tariffs for the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), the division of ZESA that provides electricity to homes and other final consumers.
USD equivalent prices are automatically updated by our system based on the prevailing market rates.

Based on our thorough knowledge we can estimate what you would pay if you asked someone with ZWL to make the payment on your behalf and gave them USD.
Some of the tariffs given by ZESA do not include a 6% Rural Electrification Levy.
The tariffs on the right are estimations when the levy is included.
Units and kWh/hour are the same thing.
For now, only exporters such as mines are billed in USD or foreign currency, domestic users and other users are still being billed in ZWL for the foreseeable future.
The new tariffs came into effect on Friday, 01 March 2024. It is important to note that sometimes tariffs just come into effect without being publicly announced.
With this system, the more power you consume, the more you’ll pay per unit. Here are the current tariffs for each band:
● For the first 50 units, you will pay $1 188.68 ZWL per unit (about US$0.07 per unit), for a total of $63 000.00 ZWL . The total discounted units up to this point are 50 units which will cost you a total of $$63 000.00 ZWL.

● For 51-100 Units, you will pay $1 320.75 ZWL per unit (about US$0.08 per unit), for a total of $70 000.00 ZWL . The total discounted units up to this point are 100 units which will cost you a total of $$133 000.00 ZWL
● For 101-200 Units, you will pay $2 339.62 ZWL per unit (about US$0.13 per unit), for a total of $248 000.00 ZWL . The total discounted units up to this point are 200 units which will cost you a total of $$381 000.00 ZWL
● For 201-300 Units, you will pay $3 396.23 ZWL per unit (about US$0.19 per unit), for a total of $360 000.00 ZWL . The total discounted units up to this point are 300 units which will cost you a total of $$741 000.00 ZWL
● For 301-400 Units, you will pay $3 679.25 ZWL per unit (about US$0.21 per unit), for a total of $390 000.00 ZWL . The total discounted units up to this point are 400 units which will cost you a total of $$1 131 000.00 ZWL
● For 401 and above Units, you will pay $3 820.75 ZWL per unit (about US$0.22 per unit).
Each month you are entitled to a discounted 400 units (kWh) of electricity which costs about $1 131 000.00 ZWL (US$$64.35) at current tariffs.
So the first $1 131 000.00 ZWL (US$$64.35) you spend gets you 400 kWh of electricity.
ZESA Urges Customers to Upgrade Prepaid Meters
Therefore even if you buy electricity on the 10th as long as it is your first purchase of the month your $1 131 000.00 ZWL (US$$64.35) will get you 400kWh. This quota is restored on the first day of each month.
