Yet Another Road Traffic Accident at Mabvuku Turn-off

Citizens have raised concern over the increase in road traffic accidents in Harare. This follows reports of several accidents that occurred early morning on Wednesday within the city.

In the first report, a speeding City-Epworth route commuter omnibus driver rammed into a tree this morning at Arcadia shops in Harare. The driver and a passenger died on the spot, while several passengers were seriously injured. This was attributed to recklessness on the part of the driver. Passengers are urged to engage the driver when they notice reckless driving behaviour.

Meanwhile, another accident occurred at the notorious Mabvuku Turn-off. Several cars piled up in the incident. It is yet to be confirmed as to the number of people injured. Several fatal accidents have been reported at the same spot.

Recently, efforts to remedy the situation were made through the introduction of traffic lights at the junction. However, it seems the traffic lights are not effective as accidents continue to happen.

Tabani (@tabanimcgucci) also showed concern: “What should be done to reduce/eradicate fatal accidents at this Mabvuku turn off? Traffic lights don't seem to be helping much.”
