Harare – A woman is living in fear after her husband demanded a refund of the lobola (bride price) he paid for her.
He allegedly threatened to shoot and kill her if she does not comply with his demands
The matter came to light when Dephine Maregedze approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against her husband, Moses Musapatika.
During her testimony, Dephine Maregedze revealed to the magistrate that her husband has been making serious threats against her life.
“My husband always threatens to shoot me with a gun if I do not pay him back the money he used for my lobola,” she stated.
Dephine Maregedze disclosed that her husband specifically threatened to kill her if she attempted to file for a divorce.

Maregedze also recounted how Musapatika frequently demeans her, telling her that she does not deserve him and that he did her a favour by marrying her
“He also threatens to kill me if I proceed to file for a divorce. He tells me that I do not deserve him and that he did me a favour by marrying me.“
Maregedze also detailed the physical abuse she has endured, explaining that she is living in a very abusive relationship.
“He abuses me by hitting and slapping me frequently,” she said.
In response to the allegations, Moses Musapatika vehemently denied ever threatening to shoot or kill his wife.
“I have never threatened to shoot my wife with a gun,” he asserted.
