Sandra & Selmor Mtukudzi Narrate How Daisy Abused Them
Selmor Mtukudzi and her sister Sandra shared their painful experiences of abuse at the hands of their stepmother, Daisy.
Speaking to Ollah 7, Sandra recounted a traumatic incident when, at just 16 years old, she was left to fend for herself in Kwekwe after being abandoned by her father, Oliver Mtukudzi, and Daisy.
She said that after finishing school, she lived with her father and stepmother in Kwekwe, where she often felt she was treated differently from Daisy’s other children.
When Oliver and Daisy completed building a new house in Norton, they moved with all their belongings without informing Sandra who came home to an empty house.
Sandra revealed that things got worse when the municipality cut off water supply. She recounts that she was cut off from her father to the extent she did not have his cellphone number and could not follow them since she did not know where they had moved.
Desperate, Sandra managed to get an advance on her salary from her boss to reconnect her water. It was not until she spoke to a cousin that she learned her father had a cellphone.

Andipa number akabva anditi, ‘Asi ndokumbirawo usazotaura kuti ndini ndakupa’. Mashoko iwayo raiva shoko rakandidzamira zvisingaiti,” Sandra narrated.

When Sandra finally contacted her father and told him about the water issue, Daisy came to Kwekwe a few days later and reimbursed Sandra’s boss. However, Daisy informed Sandra that they were renting out the house, and when Sandra asked to stay in the cottage, she was told the tenant wanted both the house and the cottage.
At just 17, abandoned Sandra was forced to find a place to rent.
She also revealed that she was frequently treated differently from Daisy and Oliver’s biological children.
One incident stood out in her memory—Sandra recalled being excited about a party they were all invited to. But on the morning of the event, only Tuku and Daisy’s children, Sam and Samantha, were allowed to go. Sandra was left behind and given a pile of laundry to wash.
