Bulawayo Bride Spends Wedding Night with Cop

In a twist that could rival any soap opera, a newly wedded Bulawayo bride, Sisasenkosi Mpofu, decided that her wedding night was the perfect time for a little adventure.

Instead of the traditional post-wedding bliss, she opted for a clandestine rendezvous with her secret lover, leaving her groom, Mbongeni Moyo, to spend the much-anticipated night alone.

The drama unfolded at the end of May, following a vibrant wedding ceremony that had both families beaming with joy. Little did they know, the bride had other plans.

Mpofu vanished shortly after the vows, leaving Moyo, a church elder at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Iminyela branch, bewildered and alone.

When Mpofu finally returned the next day, Moyo's curiosity got the better of him. He snatched her phone and, to his horror, discovered a series of love messages exchanged with Geshom Gwatiringa, a police officer stationed at Hillside Police Station. Cornered and with no plausible excuse, Mpofu confessed to spending the night with Gwatiringa.

The revelation sparked a chain of events that soon spilled into the courts. Moyo, feeling betrayed and humiliated, allegedly teamed up with his brother-in-law, Fungai Mpofu, and friends Prosper Ndlovu and Allen Munhuru. The quartet decided to pay Gwatiringa a late-night visit at his home in Emakhandeni suburb.

Arriving at around 1 am, they found Gwatiringa peacefully asleep with his wife. Their knock at the door was answered by a groggy Gwatiringa, who was promptly grabbed by the neck and accused of cheating with a married woman.

The confrontation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with Gwatiringa receiving a flurry of fists and kicks before being bundled into a car and driven to Entumbane Police Station.

The journey to the station was anything but peaceful, as Gwatiringa endured further assaults. By the time they reached the station, he was in a dire state, bleeding profusely and eventually collapsing.

He was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for medical attention, and a police case was subsequently opened against Moyo and his accomplices, leading to their arrest.

In the end, what was supposed to be a night of marital bliss turned into a courtroom drama, with love, betrayal, and a bit of rough justice thrown into the mix.
