Washington Takura Muzweir, a Zimbabwean national, was arrested on Wednesday in Vadodara City, India, for allegedly assaulting a man and coercing him into transferring money from his bank account.
Muzweir is also accused of slapping a police constable who tried to intervene during the incident.
Muzweir, a student at a university in Waghodia, reportedly had a dispute with Rameshkumar Nandlal Agarwal, a construction site manager responsible for the property Muzweir had rented.
The argument centered around the return of a security deposit for the flat Muzweir had rented and was seeking to vacate.
According to reports, when Agarwal attempted to mediate between Muzweir and the mother of the property owner, the situation escalated.
Muzweir allegedly attacked Agarwal and forced him to transfer Rs 14,000 from Agarwal’s bank account into his own.
