Smallhouse Demands Share of Deceased Hubby's Property

Mary Karimanzira, a widow, has been granted a peace order at the Harare Magistrates’ Court against Prudence Muzaradenga, the girlfriend of her deceased husband.

Karimanzira recounted her anguish to the court, stating, “I had no idea about his affair.”

She revealed that she learned of her husband’s infidelity only after Muzaradenga called to inform her of his passing at her home.

The heartbreaking news shattered her, as she realized not only had she lost her husband, but she had also been betrayed.

I was devastated because I discovered that he had been involved in extramarital affairs,” she shared, tears welling in her eyes.

Since the funeral, Muzaradenga has allegedly been harassing Karimanzira, appearing at her home and demanding a portion of the deceased man’s assets.

She has no rightful claim to my husband’s house,” Karimanzira asserted, standing firm against Muzaradenga’s demands.

My husband and I worked hard to build our life together, and I will not let someone who was secretly involved with him try to take what’s mine.”

In response, Muzaradenga defended her position in court, acknowledging a long-term relationship with the deceased.

We were together for years,” she argued, asserting that he had promised to care for her. “I deserve a share of his property because I was also his wife.”

Magistrate Meenal Narotam presided over the proceedings, ultimately ruling in favor of Karimanzira.

The court issued a peace order prohibiting Muzaradenga from contacting or harassing the widow any further.
