Thokozani Khupe Finally Takes Over Harvest House
There are recent claims that Thokozani Khupe the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) leader has taken over Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House which was formerly known as Harvest House.
The building was being used by the Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance. MDC Alliance Secretary-General, Chalton Hwende claims that soldiers blocked them to get into the offices saying they should seek permission from the police.
In a video by Techmag.TV the police are refusing to assist Hwende and MDC Alliance to regain entry into the offices.
ZimTrending learned from VOA Studio 7 that MDC-T’s organizing secretary for Harare province, Rhino Mashaya, dismissed as “wishful thinking” reports that the MDC-T was assisted by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces in taking over the building. He said:
Some of the MDC Alliance youth guarding the premises called our members and asked them to take over the offices. Our youth in the Harare central business district went there and did that. There was no resistance at all as that office belongs to us.
The takeover comes after the Supreme Court reinstated Khupe as the legitimate leader of the MDC left by Morgan Tsvangirai.
There has been a leadership crisis in the MDC since the death of Tsvangirai in 2018.
