Who is Uncle Waffles?

Lungelihle Zwane, popularly known as Uncle Waffles, is a South African female DJ making waves in the music industry. Born and raised in Swaziland, has always been passionate about music.

She revealed in her blog that she grew up with her grandma and only learned about her mother later in life. Lungelihle was nine years old when she reconciled with her mother after her parents rejected her on the day she was born. From a young age, she loved singing and dancing along to her favourite songs on the radio. As she grew older, this passion turned into a love for mixing and creating new sounds.

After completing high school, Zwane enrolled at the University of KwaZulu-Natal to study information technology. However, she soon realised that her true passion was music. She dropped out of university and began to focus on her DJing career.

Uncle Waffles has quickly become one of the most popular DJs in South Africa. She is known for her high-energy sets and her ability to get any crowd moving. Her unique style has earned her a loyal following among clubgoers and music lovers alike.

Uncle Waffles was a television presenter on Studio1, a Swazi television show. Along with Siybonga Nsibande and DJ Stunner, the 21-year-old hosted the music and entertainment extravaganza. Besides her DJing career, Uncle Waffles is also a businesswoman. She is the founder and owner of Uncle Waffles Music, a record label and production company. The 22-year-old announced her new residency at one of the biggest radio stations in the UK – BBC Radio 1.

Booking Fee

Uncle Waffles charges R80,000 for an hour set at indoor events and R120,000 for an hour set at outdoor events. Entertainment influencer Musa Khawula revealed that Waffles charges a whopping $25,000 (R420,000) for an international outdoor gig and $18,000 (over R300,000) for an indoor international gig.

Uncle Waffles revealed in a Live video that she is bi-sexual but is currently in a heterosexual relationship.

Drake reposts a clip from Uncle Waffles’ stories on his own Instagram account which was considered a co-sign in the music world. “Co-sign” is a form of endorsement on social media, especially when bigger and more established artist shows love to an upcoming star – another informal way of giving a shout-out or stamp of approval.
