Gospel Artist Diva Mafunga Had Performed at Umdala Wethu Gala
He becomes the third artist to be involved in a road accident within the last 72 hours, after Mathias Mhere and DJ Levels.
Diva Mafunga died in car accident on his way from performing at the Umdala Wethu Gala held at Maphisa Shopping Centre in Matebeleland South on Saturday in commemoration of Dr Joshua Nkomo.
According to the late musician’s son Tinashe, the ‘Endai Naizvozvo’ hitmaker died this Tuesday morning after a car accident that occurred near Gweru. He was 53.
Diva Mafunga is a seasoned gospel artist who rose to prominence in the early 2000s as a contemporary of other gospel artists of the time who included the iconic Baba and Amai Charamba, Mercy Mutsvene, the Mahendere Brothers, among others.
He churned out several gospel hits that earned him his place among Zimbabwe's greatest gospel musicians. The gospel hits include:
