Cholera Watch: Form 1 Student Dies at a Kadoma School
A form 1 student at Waverly High School in Kadoma, who was among those diagnosed with cholera over the weekend, has died.
Faith Musindo, of 1619 Waverly, is said to have succumbed to cholera on Monday afternoon.
At least 26 students from the school were infected with cholera at the weekend.
Reports said most of the affected students were taken to the Ingezi Cholera Treatment Centre.
Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education communications director, Taungana Ndoro, told H-Metro:
While I cannot confirm the situation for you at the moment, in situations involving health emergencies or outbreaks in schools, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education works closely with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, and other relevant health authorities, to address the issue.
Typically, our MoPSE takes necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of pupils and staff members using standard guidelines.
Kadoma Town Council Ward 11 Councillor, Michael Mabwe, said:
Our house at Waverley is on fire. We have 26 students from Waverley High School diagnosed as having contracted cholera.
Let’s be vigilant as residents. Practise extreme hygiene. I will share with you the hotline number to use.

ZIMSEC has informed stakeholders, parents, guardians, and candidates about the Interbank rate that will apply when making payments for the 2024 June Ordinary and Advanced level and Grade 6 and Grade 7 Examination Fees.
In a public notice issued this Wednesday, March 20, ZIMSEC said that the examination fees are originally set in USD, but they can be paid in the currency that parents or guardians find convenient.
It said parents can choose to make payments in USD or Rands until the registration closing dates and if they prefer to pay in Zimbabwe Dollars (ZWL), they can do so during the window from 19 March to 26 March 2024.
The exchange rate for ZWL payments during this period is ZWL18,981 to 1 USD. Reads the notice:
Parents/Guardians who wish to pay registration fees in Zimbabwe Dollar (ZWL) can do so during the window of 19 March to 26 March 2024.
The interbank rate of 19 March 2024 will be used during this period to ensure that all candidates pay a uniform registration fee. The exchange rate to be applied for payments is ZWL18 981 to 1 USD. Payment period 19 March to 26 March ONLY.
Payments for the examination fees should NOT be paid directly into ZIMSEC accounts by individual parents. Candidates/ Parents should make payments to the school or centre of registration for forward remission to ZIMSEC.
