The insurance provider reportedly refused to cover the funeral expenses because the deceased missed a US$4 payment in the month of their passing.
The incident, which unfolded at one of Ecosure’s branches, is seen in a viral video which was shared on social media.
Ecosure, a funeral insurance provider underwritten by Econet Life—a subsidiary of the Econet Zimbabwe Group—has faced mounting criticism as the story gained traction.
Zimbabwean netizens have expressed their disappointment, with many labeling the company’s refusal to pay the funeral claim as heartless and insensitive.

Ecosure has issued a statement concerning the dispute with one of their clients who was denied cover due to an outstanding payment of US$4.
The company says they have reached an amicable agreement with the bereaved's family over the issue. Funeral cover is one of the most popular forms of insurance in Zimbabwe.
